This first clutch of 1999 barely made it to hatch day! Artificial incubation was substituted when some of the eggs began to be
threatened by wet slugs about halfway through the incubation period. The very unreliable Walsh-Bessette "jar" type method of
artificial incubation was the only technique being publicized in those days, but my eggs did well until the final week. An
electrical transformer blew up and I lost power to the house for most of a day. My incubator thermostat malfunctioned while
on generator power, briefly cooling and then overheating the eggs. This was probably the cause of most of the neonates dieing
full term in the eggs. Five hatchlings survived, and my two keepers developed into great high yellow adult females...Grace
and Chiquita.
The sire (TW-94-146) is 25% Biak and has some nice siblings in other collections. These include Kai Wren,
Powder Junior (dubbed "Daddypants" by Buddy Goetzger), and my own Lemongirl. The Dam is a Tim Turmezie 1995 Lemon Tree.
