| This pairing is a
repeat of one done in 1998 between these same two adults. There were a
lot of slugs in this 2005 effort, but four good eggs developed to full term.
One maroon hatchling was inadvertently killed when an emerging clutch mate
turned its egg upside down while climbing around the hatch tub. Fate is strange, and the 1998 clutch suffered through a three day power outage during maternal incubation. Seven years later, the 2005 clutch endured a massive power outage during a huge ice storm a few days before Christmas. Neither clutch was effected by the loss of power, but the coincidental recurrence is interesting. |
