Buttermilk babies, 2001

This beautiful pair copulated from March, 2001 until late summer, with the female finally ovulating in August and the eggs arriving in September.  Ten were laid and artificially incubated, and ten more were surgically removed from the female after she failed to lay them.  All ten babies hatched on election day, which saw George W. Bush defeat Albert Gore for the presidency of the US.   These babies were all gorgeous, with most of them displaying bright yellow diamonds on a maroon body.  All ten fed from the first try, and none ever missed a meal during the establishment period.
