Lilly babies, 1999

This first clutch of 1999 almost didn't make it to hatch day.  The clutch was switched to artificial incubation half way through, due to some wet slugs threatening the good eggs.  A transformer exploded during the final week of incubation, forcing a rushed hook-up to a generator, which then caused a thermostat malfunction that overheated the eggs briefly.  The final result of all this was a handful of full-term dead neonates, with five survivors.

Happily, these youngsters have developed into some wonderful high yellow adults.  Grace and Chiquita are two females I kept from this clutch, which was the result of crossing the male Barnose with the Lemon Tree female Lilly.
